Full Moon in Aquarius

Happy full moon friends! I really enjoy a lot of things about this chart, there’s so much to unpack with this one, so let’s get into it.

Here’s a peak at the chart, in case you want to nerd out (like me):

First of all, the full moon is in the sign of Aquarius, which brings the energy of innovation, revolution, disruption of the status quo, and visionary insight.

Aquarius is the archetype that is here to stir shit up. Aquarius sees beyond the current limitations of our existing reality, and is able to envision and bring to life new perspectives and paradigm shifts that bring revolutionary, sometimes sudden and unexpected change. Aquarius isn’t here to “fit in”, it’s here to see what needs to change, and help usher that change in, no matter how much it might disrupt the current paradigm in the process. With Aquarius, we learn to “let our freak flag fly” and celebrate what makes us stand out.

All of that energy is in opposition to Leo, who wants to be seen in a way that gets recognition, validation, and approval. Leo loves to shine bright, but is less comfy challenging consensus reality. While Leo is a show-stopper, it’s also a crowd-pleaser. And the archetype of Leo has been undergoing a rebirth process this Leo season, with Mercury retrograde in that sign.

So some aspect of the way we shine, show up, allow ourselves to be seen, celebrated, validated, and admired is still going through an underworld process. There’s a person rebrand underway, and Mercury retrograde is inviting us to examine our patterns around seeking external validation. Aquarius, on the other hand, is about self-sourcing validation and letting our most outrageous side out to play. We need to challenge the current structures in order to build new ones, and that’s exactly what Aquarius came here for.

This Mercury retrograde journey is in it’s final moments, and Mercury has already reached the critical 4 degree point where he will station direct, meaning he’s just hanging out at a standstill, waiting to move forward after a 3 week backward journey. At this point, we’re about to release the slingshot and move forward. You should have some insight on what this Mercury retrograde homework was for you, and some clarity about what will need to change as we move forward. Mercury will station direct on Monday the 11th, and will pull with it the impulse of this full moon chart.

Full moons in Aquarius can have that electric, supercharged, classic wired “full moon” feeling. This is because Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, who rules over electricity, kundalini energy, and sudden, shocking, abrupt and disruptive change. Uranus is lightning speed, and whenever he’s accentuated in the chart, our nervous systems can feel a little frayed. Don’t be surprised if this full moon keeps you up all night.

Since Uranus is the chart ruler, we need to explore what he’s up to in this chart, and he’s doing BIG THINGS right now.

There is a beautiful grand trine in the sky right now that includes Uranus. We have Uranus at the first degree of Gemini, Pluto at the first degree of Aquarius, and Mars at the first degree of Libra. I am LOVING the energy of these three working in harmony. There is big possibility for change available with this aspect in full force. Pluto is the planet of evolutionary growth and change at a soul level. Pluto brings transformation (through death and rebirth) that our egos often resist, yet our souls crave, and even signed up for. Uranus is the rebel, bringing sudden and shocking change that wakes us up to a new perspective and helps us see things from a totally new angle. And Mars is the planet that rules our drive to create the change that’s needed, Mars is our impulse and our direction, and the way we pursue the desires of the soul.

With these three planets working together in the Air signs, and at the first degree no less, there is sure to be big change for us all this weekend. Something is realigning in a way that might not feel totally clear at first (since Mercury is still retrograde remember), but will ultimately serve us and open new doors. It’s a breath of fresh air and a release of resistance — if we so choose.

Clinging to control won’t serve us well under these skies, new energy is incoming whether we like it or not, and if we surrender to the ride we might find out it’s all happening for us in ways we couldn’t begin to imagine if we tried.

When Mercury stations direct, opposite Pluto, he’s also certain to be pointing us in a new direction, one we probably didn’t see coming. At the same time, Mars is also opposing the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries, asking us to bring balance to what we want on an ego level (Aries) and what is of service to the group or what works harmoniously with others (Libra). Yet again, if you are clinging to a specific way you think it should be right now, it might be a harsh wakeup call.

At the same time, this chart represents a helpful, harmonious, and exciting opportunity to embrace change for those of us who are ready for growth. Be willing to let go of your old ways and be open to new possibilities beyond what you had in mind. There is such potential for huge leaps and shifts right now if we are willing to surrender and embrace revolutionary change.

This chart reminds me of a quote by Jeffrey Wolf Green, the founder of Evolutionary Astrology (which is what I teach and work with) that was shared by my teacher recently:

“The strength of our resistance to the change we signed up for will determine the magnitude of the problems we face.”

At a soul level, we signed up for big change and evolutionary growth, it’s exactly what we came here for. When we stop resisting the change our soul is deeply desiring, because of the fears of the ego, we will experience a lot less struggle and challenge in our lives.
