New Moon in Virgo

new moon | Virgo | August 23, 2025

Today we have a new moon in Virgo to kick off Virgo season, which ushers us into eclipse season.

Here’s a peak at the chart for this one:

Honestly, this new moon is giving anxiety and overwhelm. The moon is being stress-aspected by a lot of planets, and in the first degree of Virgo, we can be experiencing the shadow sides of Virgo with this one.

This new moon is highlighting our South Node in Virgo themes, as well as amplifying the lessons of our recent Mercury retrograde in Leo.

Let’s get into it.

Virgo is an energy that wants to have a clear and calculated plan. Virgo seeks improvement and even perfection. Virgo wants us to get it right, and have all of our ducks in a row.

The new moon in Virgo suggests a new beginning in the way we show up for ourselves, the order we bring to our daily lives, and perhaps a health or healing journey. However, this new beginning is wrought with uncertainty, unpredictability, and honestly, anxiety.

The moon is being squared by Uranus, that brings a chaotic and unpredictable flavour to the chart, something Virgo is definitely not a fan of. The moon is also inconjunct Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. These influences bring pressure, confusion, and a transformative element that can feel destabilizing and unexpected. Altogether it’s a lot of weight bearing down on this Virgo moon.

Virgo is easily stressed out and this moon looks like just that, a stressful and overwhelming pressure and chaos heading in Virgo’s direction. This can bring up all of Virgo’s shadows: overthinking, anxiety, decision paralysis, and self-doubt or criticism.

This moon is ushering us into an intense eclipse season, where a lot will be revealed, stirred up to the surface, and ultimately transformed by the end of this Virgo season. The new moon also highlights the South Node in Virgo, further amplifying the karmic themes around our South Node journey. Ultimately, we are moving from needing to know it all and have control over outcomes, to deep surrender in the journey towards the North Node in Pisces.

Regardless of what challenges are coming up for you under this new moon, can you deepen into the trust that life is on your side and everything that is challenging you is inviting you into deeper trust and surrender in the divine plan, even if you don’t have all the answers right now?

The new moon is ruled by Mercury, who is still travelling through post-shadow after his retrograde in Leo. There is something we are integrating around self-worth, expression, and our personal power with this new moon. The clarity we received through that intense retrograde is now being asked to be acted upon and embodied through our choices now.

This is a new moon that is inviting us to embrace a new beginning of change, renewal, and transformation. It might feel overwhelming right now and be bringing up a lot of stress and anxiety, yet we must surrender and trust in the journey. Embrace the unexpected, and sooth your nervous system as much as possible.

This is also a good time to set plans in motion and create a tactical approach to managing the month ahead. Make a list of all the things you would feel much better having sorted out, and set a strategic plan in motion to accomplish them over the next month. Virgo loves a plan and is soothed by having some structure in the works to guide us through the chaotic vibes of eclipse season.

Tune back in here for the next report, our first eclipse on September 7th!

Big love as always,

Hannah
