New Moon in Cancer
New moon | Cancer | June 25, 2025
The new moon comes in on June 25, amidst a calamity of energies we’ve been swirling in for the month of June. This moon begs for a new beginning and powerful personal reclamation of our joy, our self nourishment, and our emotional containment. Yet simultaneously, we are asked to run a tight ship, to hold the containers that serve us, and to show up with daily action in the form of devotional discipline.
The new moon happens in the sign of Cancer, fresh after the celebration of solstice energies. Cancer is the archetype of the healer, the mother, and the intuitive, sensitive, big feeler. In the archetype of Cancer we learn to hold and find internal safety within the full wide spectrum of human emotion.
In Cancer we also learn to nourish and care for self and other. We learn the balance of giving and receiving, especially emotionally. We learn of the tendency to over-give that leaves us depleted, resentful, burdened, and martyred. We learn where our emotional landscape ends, and where another’s begins, so that we may have emotional sovereignty. We learn to let go of control of the emotional state and wellbeing of others, as we realize this is always an attempt to control our own internal emotional state.
The new moon accentuates all of these themes. And since the new moon in conjunct Jupiter, these themes are going to be showing up in BIG ways. Jupiter amplifies whatever he touches. In Cancer, Jupiter amplifies our emotional needs, our full spectrum of feelings, and our need for self care and deep nourishment. Emotions are running high. Big feelings are here.
Simultaneously, the new moon and Jupiter are being squared by Saturn, who adds a seriousness to the equation. Saturn who is still hanging out with Neptune, ruler of the North Node, and will be for the remainder of this year.
Saturn and Neptune want us to hold the vision, the pure potential of what could be and the expansiveness of our dreams… AND to hold the discipline to bring those dreams into physical manifestation in the 3D through consistent daily action towards them.
These energies squaring Jupiter and the new moon can amplify the conflict between what feels good and what we know we need to do to bring our big visions to life. Right now it’s incredibly important to find the balance between nourishing ourselves abundantly and doing the things we might prefer to avoid or neglect, but know are necessary.
Saturn rules structure, containment, institutions, boundaries, and discipline. Saturn wants us to create legacies built to last, and will happily point out any flaws in the foundations holding it all together. We need to work with Saturn consciously and intentionally right now, without allowing Saturn to crush our dreams and tell us our big visions aren’t possible. And without ignoring our emotional needs.
Jupiter in Cancer wants to indulge in the feels. And while we need a little extra dose of self care right now, we need to be careful to balance the inner workings and emotional safety with the structures and goals that actually hold our lives together and make it possible to rest and receive nourishment.
This new moon brings a potent new beginning in the ways we tend to ourselves, especially with the influence of Jupiter. May we remember that the structure and devotion Saturn is calling for is another way we can tend to and nourish our lives.
New moon blessings,
Hannah
